Rainscreen cladding facade system – StoVentec
-
Highly adaptable, versatile facade systems
StoVentec is a range of rainscreen cladding facade systems that can be used with or without insulation on load-bearing walls, both on new build and refurbishment projects. The systems are mechanically fixed to a substrate using a proprietary sub-construction, which can be designed to Passivhaus standards and allows for considerable adjustment of substrate unevenness. The result is both aesthetically and functionally superior, dramatically reducing energy consumption and increasing thermal comfort. The ventilated cavity, which acts as an air/water barrier, also regulates the building's moisture content and helps with pressure equalisation with the outside environment.
Products and systems vary from location to location due to local building regulations and standards. We strongly advise you to contact your local expert who will be happy to consult you on standards and approval. -
Advantages of rainscreen cladding systems
- Unevenness of walls can be easily levelled by adjustable sub-construction
- Improved thermal and energy efficiency if insulation layer is added
- Substrate protected from wind, rain & snow, enhancing lifespan of the building
- Improved acoustic insulation
- Better internal humidity & moisture control
- Low maintenance
Benefits of StoVentec
- Proprietary StoVentec lightweight, flexible carrier board made of recycled glass granulate
- Cuts and scores easily with a blade on site, no special tools needed, no dust from power saws
- Design freedom with curved shapes and large, seamless facades in a vast range of surface finishes & materials
- Lightweight material is efficient to install and easy to lift into place, including onto soffitts
- Passivhaus-certified sub-construction possible that is free from thermal bridges
- Highly reliable and durable, high resistance to impact, weather & cracking

Beautiful, functional facades for the future
Depending on the facade finish or cladding chosen for the system, a sound insulation improvement ranging from 12 to 18dB is possible. The Sto system uses a lightweight, recycled glass carrier board to provide a level backing for a range of plaster and cladding materials. The board is reinforced with either a cement-based or synthetic thin coat reinforcement layer that contains an embedded glass fibre mesh. A variation of the system using panelised glass boards provides an attractive and robust alternative. Sto offers a vast range of surface materials for facade designs including:- glass & glass mosaic panel cladding
- natural stone cladding
- cement-free acrylic-based renders
- silicone- & silicate-based renders
- mineral-based renders
- prefabricated render tiles
- 3D sculpted facade profiles & panels
- metal, concrete, wood or brick effect render
- brick slips & ceramic tiles

Enhanced performance with innovative coatings & additives for rendered surfaces
Minimise the long-term impact of extreme weather, moisture, algae and fungus on building facades with Sto's innovative coatings, paints and additives. Depending on the building requirements and local climate conditions, facade paints and coatings can help keep your facade looking its best for many years:
- StoColor Dryonic - protect from algae & fungus
- StoColor Photosan - break down airborne pollutants
- StoColor X-Black - prevent solar-related cracking & discolouring
- StoColor Lotusan - hydrophobic surface to keep the surface cleaner

Flexible reinforcement layers for high crack and impact resistance
Reinforcement materials are added between the carrier board and the surface finish, designed to improve impact resistance and to absorb thermal stresses caused by temperature fluctuations. This prevents crack formation and therefore protects against the ingress of water. -

Technical support & design visualisation
At our global locations and using state of the art U-value or dew point calculation tools, we are able to advise design and construction professionals on the anticipated effects of applying insulation at your locality, in your individual climatic conditions, regardless of hot and humid, cold or wet. This allows us to suggest the most appropriate solution suitable for your building. Sto also offers material advice and a visual design service to housing authorities and construction partners to enable them to visualise the improvements being suggested.
