Combed render

Create texture with a tooth edged tool
Combed render, also referred to as ribbed or grooved, is a creative application technique that utilises the tooth edge of the application tool to create a permanent graphic relief on the surface. The 'combing' motion whilst the render is still wet creates the distinctive texture, which can be executed in vertical, horizontal, diagonal, wavey, circular - or indeed in any other direction or combination as required. The shape and size of the grooves will be determined by the teeth on the tool, with triangular, square and rounded shapes being most common. As with other highly textured render facades, combed render surfaces can reduce long term maintenance by reducing the appearance of dirt and scuffs.
