With its initial planning beginning in the 1990s, the Church of St John the Evangelist and its parish building were completed in the Utrini neighbourhood of Zagreb in the post-communist era in 2008. Nominated for an EUmies Award in 2009, the building's distinctive undulating geometry and use of material and colour is achieved with a ceramic tile facade. These tiles consist of a composition of three precisely definded, bespoke shades of blue, representing eternity and the universe. They produce an near-iridescent effect as the ambient light and viewing angle changes.
