Preselection judging begins for the Sto-sponsored Architectural Photography Awards 2019
September 27, 2019Once again Sto is proud to support the prestigious Architectural Photography Awards 2019 with the best images being displayed at the World Architecture Festival held in Amsterdam from 4th-6th December 2019. The first round of judging took place at Sto’s International Project Support Hub, the “StoWerkstatt” in Clerkenwell London on 24th of September 2019.
Over 2000 images from 42 countries were assessed by a jury consisting of :-
Ellie Stathaki, Architecture Editor, Wallpaper*
John McElgunn, Partner, Rogers, Stirk Harbour and Partners
Katy Harris, Head of Communications and Senior Partner, Foster + Partners
Mike Taylor, Principal, Hopkins Architects
Richard Bryant, Hon FRIBA Photographer
The objective being to reduce the number by 75% before passing on the next group of judges :-
Ben van Berkel : Principal Architect, UN Studio
Murat Tabanlioglu : Tabanlioglu Architects
Pawel Paniczko : Photographer and winner of APA prize in 2018
In this next round four images for each category and four portfolios will be chosen for the shortlist that will be exhibited in Amsterdam at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in December 2019. The delegates at the World Architecture Festival, some of the world’s most influential architectural professionals, will cast their votes to establish this year’s overall winners and an announcement will be at the gala dinner on evening of 6th December.
For the first time the general public is invited to vote for a new “mobile category” on the subject of “shelter” - with motives such as bus stops, tree canopies, igloos, and many more. For this category the image must have been taken on a mobile device – phone or tablet.
